COMMANDMENTS
FOR GOOD BATTERY CARE

SAFETY FIRST

WEAR EYE AND FACE PROTECTION WHEN WORKING WITH BATTERIES

BEFORE CHARGING

1. CLEAN AND DRY TOP OF BATTERY

2. CHECK ELECTROLYTE LEVELS IN ALL CELLS AND IF NECESSARY, ADD WATER TO COVER THE MOSS GUARD ONLY

DURING CHARGING

3. CHARGE BATTERY IN A VENTILATED AREA AWAY FROM SPARKS AND OPEN FLAMES.

4. OPEN BATTERY COVER BUT KEEP VENT CAPS ON

5. DO NOT ALLOW BATTERY TEMPERATURE TO RISE ABOVE 120˚F

AFTER CHARGING

6. ADD ENOUGH WATER TO MAINTAIN A LEVEL APPROXIMATELY HALF INCH BELOW THE CELL COVERS

7. REMOVE SPILLED ELECTROLYTE FROM THE BATTERY TOP

8. ALLOW BATTERY TO COOL DOWN BEFORE USE

BASIC MAINTENANCE

9. ADD WATER, NEVER ACID

10. FINAL WATER ADJUSTMENT SHOULD BE COMPLETED AFTER CHARGING

11. USE CHARGER COMPATIBLE WITH BATTERY CAPACITY, IF POSSIBLE USE AUTOMATIC CHARGERS

12. CHARGE BATTERY FOR 8 HOURS AND USE BATTERY FOR 8 HOURS

13. RECORD CELL VOLTAGE AND ELECTROLYTE GRAVITY AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH; LOW GRAVITY MAY INDICATE A BAD OR WEAK CELL
